About SmartFlow

Stormwater management that works in the real world

Smartflow Rain Water Solutions develops and operates adaptive stormwater management systems for urban buildings. Our work draws on peer-reviewed hydrology research and is validated through active field deployments.

The problem

Urban drainage is failing under increasing rainfall intensity

Cities are growing denser while rainfall events are becoming more intense. Conventional drainage infrastructure was not designed for today's peak discharge volumes. The result: street flooding, property damage, and overloaded municipal systems that cannot keep up.

Rooftops represent a significant share of urban impervious surface. When it rains, water reaches the drainage network with almost no delay. A managed rooftop can temporarily retain water and release it at a controlled rate — reducing peak flow into the system exactly when it matters most.

SmartFlow makes this approach practical at scale. A single device, installed on an existing roof drainage outlet, turns any flat roof into a managed retention volume. Deployed across multiple buildings, the cumulative effect reduces peak stormwater discharge across an entire urban catchment.

Foundation

25 years of stormwater engineering, built into one platform

SmartFlow is built on the practical stormwater management knowledge of Peleg — with over 25 years of hands-on experience — combined with the engineering and technological expertise of the founding team. Research supports our methodology, but real-world implementation defines it.

Field-proven engineering

Our control methodology is grounded in decades of operational experience managing rooftop stormwater systems across diverse building types and climate conditions in Israel.

Solar Impulse Efficient Solution

Recognised by the Solar Impulse Foundation as an efficient solution that combines environmental protection with economic profitability.

Approach

How we work

Engineering-first

Every design decision is grounded in civil engineering practice and tested against field conditions before deployment.

Data-driven

We collect and publish performance data from active deployments. Our claims are measurable and traceable.

Systems thinking

Individual buildings are deployment units. Urban water systems are the goal. Scale is built into the architecture from day one.

Practical reliability

We design for urban infrastructure conditions: outdoor environments, limited maintenance access, power and connectivity resilience.
